In Venezuela, the protracted crisis and economic collapse have left millions in need. The pandemic has complicated the humanitarian situation even further, especially for women and girls.
The economic crisis resulted in deteriorating health infrastructure, a shortage of medical supplies, and a decrease in health-care workers. As COVID-19 spread across the country, the health-system capacity was severely impacted, threatening maternal and newborn health care. Access to these life-saving services became limited. Even when available, many women didn’t seek the services for fear of contracting COVID-19.
UNFPA is the sole provider of life-saving maternal health supplies in several states in Venezuela. We are scaling up our response to reach even more women and girls, provide more medical supplies and train health-workers.
Donate now to ensure that vulnerable women and girls in Venezuela get the life-saving support they urgently need.
